Ben Chilwell in the animal welfare controversy

Ben Chilwell has been challenged by the RSPCA after footage emerged of the Chelsea star engaging in a tug of war with a tiger.

Chilwell is seen with a group of people, pulling a rope which is held by a tiger, as seen in the video below.

The RSPCA commented on the incident saying: ‘We do not believe this activity promotes respect for these wild animals and should not be marketed for public entertainment. Zoos often state that their goal is to educate the public and positively influence visitor behavior in a way that will directly benefit the conversation. While we understand that zoos doing this may feel like a ‘tug of war’ is providing physical enrichment to big cats, there are plenty of other ways it can be done,” as reports. The sun.

The RSPCA’s concerns are aimed more at the zoo in question than Chilwell itself.

Although the Chelsea defender is involved, he is simply taking part in an activity promoted by the Zoo. Of course he should know better, but the RSPCA is aiming his concerns at the root of the problem.

Chelsea fans may be concerned about Chilwell’s involvement in these activities for several reasons. Not only mindful of animal welfare, but the left-back is currently recovering from a knee injury, and a tussle with a tiger is certainly not part of his physio programme.
