Dog at Warrington Animal Welfare seeks a home

AFTER nearly a year, a ‘loving’ rescue dog with a ‘big, sweet heart’ is still struggling to find a forever home.

Molly, two, has been in the care of Warrington Animal Welfare (WAW) since June 2021, but has no interest.

Charity staff believe she was born in the wrong ‘dog costume’.

Molly, a Staffy crossed with an Akita, is currently thriving in her foster home but her fathers can no longer keep her which means she will have to go to kennels where she will not make it.

A WAW staff member said: “Molly has been looking for a new home since June 2021.

“She’s an amazing dog, but she will need a special family who will give her time to settle in and gain confidence at her own pace.”

Her adoptive owners said, “She was so nervous at first and needed a lot of TLC to warm her up. It was a week before she let us touch her but now she loves scratches and cuddles, and lots of licks.

“As she is quite large, she can be a little scary when you first meet her, as she has a good deep bark.

“But she’s more afraid of you than the other way around.

“Molly loves snuggling up and taking over the bed. She has so much love, kisses and hugs to give if only she is given lots of time and patience.

Molly must be the only pet and children must be over 16 years old. She has lived with younger children but can be nervous around those she doesn’t know.

Warrington Guardian:

She is well mannered, house trained and prefers company. She is strong in the lead.

“She needs someone patient to get her settled in, just like her wonderful foster dads,” a WAW volunteer added.

Molly has also worked with a dog trainer and WAW will continue to provide this support in her new home.

Sharon from Shape your Dog who has worked with Molly said: “I have been working remotely over Zoom for the past few weeks with Molly’s fantastic foster parents and we are helping Molly develop some calm around the house. , noises and visitors. and we teach him games that will help him deal with distractions on his next walks.

“She needs more socialization, but at the right pace and from a distance for her.

“I sincerely hope we can find Molly a forever home with a dedicated owner that I would be happy to support.”

Ideally, Molly is looking for her forever home – but another foster home would be great.
