Commissioned for 9Network Australia and filmed in 4K, the 8-part series follows the heartwarming stories of staff, volunteers and animals who come through the doors of the Animal Welfare League of South Australia Inc. (AWL) and South Australia Hospital. emergency Vets4Pets. in Adelaide.
Production is being handled by Context Media with production funding from Omnicom Media Group subsidiary OMnet Australia. Escapade Media is on board to handle international distribution and says it is set to announce a series of licensing deals.
“It’s a brilliant pairing. Jai Courtney relates to the mass demographics, but with a strong appeal to the younger demographic, which is critical for channels and platforms today,” said Natalie Lawley, MD of Getaway.
Courtney (“A Good Day to Die Harf,” “Terminator Genisys”) was recently seen in Prime Video’s action thriller series “The Terminal List” alongside Chris Pratt. He will next be seen in the Netflix series “Jigsaw,” a heist action drama from Ridley Scott. The badass, however, turns out to be an animal lover.
“”For the Love of Pets” is a fascinating look into the lives of some very special people and the endless amount of love and dedication they put into their crusade to give thousands of animals without uphold the love and care they deserve every year,” Courtney said. “We get an understanding of how much work goes into running these facilities and charities, what resources they need, and what kind of people are needed to maintain the level of care required. Some of the animals we meet need life-saving surgeries, others just need a loving home. But it is a dramatic daily operation, sometimes heartbreaking but often full of joy and fulfillment.
