Jinn is described as a “contemporary” supernatural drama centered on young Arab figures that follows a group of teenagers, whose lives are turned upside down when a spiritual figure appears before them in the ancient city of Petra. They must try to stop Jinn from destroying the world.
Salma Malhas plays the role of Mira, a rebellious teenager still devastated after the loss of her mother who learns to love again when she meets Keras, played by Hamzeh Okab, the jinn in charge of guarding the vigilante Jinns. Sultan Alkhail will play Yassin, who struggles with a world that seems stacked against him and the show will follow his coming-of-age story sparked by his supernatural friendship with Vera, played by Aysha Shahaltough.
Executive producer and collaborating writer Rajeev Dassani said: “Creating Netflix’s first Arabic original and one of the first shows aimed at teenagers in the Arab world has been an unforgettable experience. We’ve had so many local teens telling us that they’ve never seen themselves properly portrayed onscreen, and it’s both our pleasure and our responsibility to bring that to them, and in doing so, to showcase all that the area has to offer. “
The Dassani brothers are directed by Michael Klein of Dobre Films.
