NSPCA Evokes the Spirit of Ubuntu with Donation to Animal Welfare Shelters in Ukraine


Graphic images have left the world in shock and despair after Russia launched a devastating attack on Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent troops across borders into northern, eastern and southern Ukraine.

The National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) has expressed its devastation at news of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, saying it stands wholeheartedly with its colleagues in good -being animal and the Ukrainian people.

“The NSPCA commends our brave colleagues working in animal welfare shelters in Ukraine who have decided to stay and care for the animals living in their shelters. These animals have nowhere to go,” animal welfare organization noted.

As a starting point for relief efforts for animal welfare shelters in Ukraine, the NSPCA will donate R30,000, affirming that South Africa is known around the world because of our spirit of ubuntu, among many other wonderful things.

In a Facebook post, it was stated that “The NSPCA is in contact with overseas colleagues to establish legitimate avenues for donations to be provided in a manner that will benefit as many Ukrainian welfare shelters as possible. to be animals, and to make sure the money reaches the animals on the ground,”
