“Shots Across the Bluegrass” campaign aims to improve acceptance and access to vaccines

(WYMT) – The Kentucky Association of Health Plans and Kentucky Sports Radio announced a “Shots Across the Bluegrass” campaign on Thursday to help improve acceptance and access to vaccines.

The campaign begins June 7 and ends June 11.

During these days, Kentucky Sports Radio will host daily in-person broadcasts from 10 a.m. to noon in various cities across the state.

The public is invited to attend the broadcasts and medical staff will be on hand to administer COVID-19 vaccines to people wishing to be vaccinated. Staff will be there from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. No tickets or appointments are necessary.

The tour will visit a few counties in eastern Kentucky.

The premiere will take place in Clay County on June 10 at the Volunteers of America RCC at 48 Owens Road in Manchester.

The second visit will take place in Laurel County on June 11 at the Wildcat Harley Davidson location at 575 E Hal Rogers Parkway in London.

“We’re excited to be hitting the road with KSR,” said Tom Stephens, executive director of the Kentucky Association of Health Plans. “It’s the most popular radio show in the Commonwealth, so I know we’ll make an impact and have a little fun along the way. “

As of Thursday morning, the state scorecard shows 2,058,029 Kentuckians received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

To put that in perspective, that’s 46% of the state’s population and 57% of Kentucky’s adult population.

“Getting the picture was one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time,” said Matt Jones, host of Kentucky Sports Radio. “It gave me peace of mind because not only am I protected, but I help protect others. I think I speak for the whole team when I say we’re excited to be back there and mixing with the fans with the live broadcasts.
