The League for the Protection of Animals is hosting an adoption event

CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – The League for the Protection of Animals is spreading holiday cheer with Operation Home FUR the Holidays. Starting December 10, the shelter is waiving adoption fees for all animals.

Fees generally range between $60 and $150. It’s a chance to donate $5 or more to give these pets forever homes.

Principal Heather Wilson says they’ve been over capacity all year and that’s where the idea for the adoption event came from. They would like to find homes for all animals and make room for new ones who need it.

Wilson says there are several on their waiting list who have been severely abused or are at risk of euthanasia. They are the only kill-free shelter in Calhoun County. Wilson wants to make sure they do their part and save as many animals as possible.

All animals will be fully vaccinated. Those who attend the adoption event early will be eligible for an incentive.

“For the first five of each sex of the animal. The first five dogs. The first five cats. The first five female dogs,” says Wilson. “The first five male dogs and the first five male cats will receive a free ticket to the Alabama Spaying and Neutering Clinic. Not only will you get the animal of your choice, but you will always have it spayed and neutered.

The Animal Welfare League will be hosting other events throughout December. To know more, Click here.
